Channel 9’s chief footy reporter Tom Morris to switch channels to Seven
Channel 9’s chief footy reporter Tom Morris is jumping ship to take up a lucrative offer that will rock the AFL media landscape.
Channel 9’s chief footy reporter Tom Morris is jumping ship and joining Channel 7.
Morris informed Nine on Friday morning that he intends to take up a lucrative offer to join Seven.
As flagged by the Herald Sun in October, it’s understood Morris’ love of footy and cricket was the key factor given Seven is the main broadcaster of both sports.
Seven’s head of sport Chris Jones and SEN boss Craig Hutchison put forward an enticing deal.
He will also remain with SEN but is not expected to have a huge day to day role on 7News with Mitch Cleary to remain as chief footy reporter.
It’s another big coup for Seven after they lured Kane Cornes from Nine for this season and also rising sports reporter Xander McGuire.
Morris joined Nine in January 2024. He is out of contract officially on December 31.
Tom Morris could not be contacted for comment.
