Carrie Bickmore has had to put her Beanies 4 Brain Cancer fundraiser on hold due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Project host said she was still hopeful the campaign could be staged at some point this year.

“We are so bummed, we’ve been working so hard and have hundreds of thousands of beanies waiting get on your beautiful heads,’’ she told her followers on social media.

“But unfortunately corona has thrown up too many challenges at this point.

“Perhaps we might be able to bring it to you later in winter, if not it’ll have to be next year.

“People will still be diagnosed, people will still pass away. And in fact it will be a particularly challenging time for people with brain cancer, or any form of cancer over the next few months due to corona.

“Really really thinking of you all and I know you’d be feeling really scared and really vulnerable right now.

“Please when we do get a chance to bring them to you get behind us and show your support.”

Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer has now raised over $12 million since 2015.

Bickmore, who is also still working on her FOX FM radio show, also revealed she has been learning to play the piano while at home in isolation.

“I have started learning to play the piano again. I needed something to do at home that didn’t involve cleaning or cooking or working. I just grab five minutes here and there and it’s been really good for mental health. I am trying to play Clocks by Coldplay.”

She said the first thing she will do when lockdown ends will be visiting her parents.

“I miss seeing them weekly. The grandkids miss them too,’’ she said.
