CARRIE Bickmore has launched her own brain cancer charity function, with the first event planned a huge music festival.
The Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation will be in the memory of her late husband, Greg, who passed away almost five years ago after battling brain cancer for a decade.
The Project host hopes to raise $1 million for research and to help families who are going through similar situations as she did.
The foundation came together after her heartwarming Gold Logie speech earlier in May, which raised awareness about brain cancer.
“After the Logies speech I was kind of completely overwhelmed by it all, I didn’t know where to start or what to do,” she said.
“It’s taken me six months to do all the work and I have a great board with me, including Todd Sampson and Natasha Stott Despoja.”
For the foundation’s first event Bickmore, with the help of Michael Gudinski, has secured Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy, Dave Hughes and Peter Helliar.
The Brainbeats 2015 will be presented at the Garnier Festival on December 6, with more events announced soon.
Bickmore hopes it will become a regular event. Tickets are $395.
