Newly engaged radio host Polly ‘PJ’ Harding returns to the airwaves on Monday sporting a sparkling new ring.
The co-host of KIIS FM’s Jase and PJ has been in a long-distance relationship for more than two years with boyfriend BJ, a farmer who lives in New Zealand.
Throughout the romance she has shared their love story with her breakfast show listeners.
“I was back in New Zealand, I had no idea and I was completely surprised,’’ she said of the proposal last month before Christmas.
“I did spy a text message on his phone a couple of days beforehand that he had
sent to a jewellery store but I thought that was about a Christmas present.
“On the day of the proposal he was acting very strange. I had also noticed two bottles of Moet hidden and wondered why we had them. When he asked me to go for a walk on the beach, I thought that was weird.
“Then I noticed he had something in his pocket and I launched in to a million questions, ‘what’s in your pocket’, ‘what have you got there’, wrestling him on the beach, jumping about… the poor guy.
“He then pulled out a muscle shell and opened it, inside was the most divine ring.
“I said yes straight away, BJ didn’t even get to ask the sentence ‘Will You Marry Me’.”
While no wedding date is set just yet, PJ is eagerly awaiting the opening of the trans-Tasman bubble in March so that she and her new fiance can resume their regular Melbourne catch ups.
