Dane Swan joins KIIS FM’s Jase and PJ breakfast show as a commentator

Dane Swan is hoping his new bosses don’t regret giving him a special gig on a prime time radio show.

Footy larrikin Dane Swan is preparing for a year of firsts.

The Brownlow Medallist, Collingwood champion and outspoken podcaster is shaping up as Melbourne’s newest “dad influencer” with the pending birth of first child next month.

Swan and his partner Taylor Wilson are expecting a baby boy with the due date being February 20.

In another first, Swan is joining KIIS FM’s Jase and PJ breakfast show as a Monday commentator. His first show is Monday (January 11).

“I was as surprised as anyone to think someone would want to employ me for their radio show, but if they are silly enough to offer me a job I am silly enough to take it,” Swan said.

“I think it will be good. Obviously I will play to my strength and talk a little bit of footy and a lot of nonsense. We should have a fair bit of fun.

“I don’t know why they thought of me, but I am glad they did and I hope they don’t regret it.

“Obviously we can’t travel this year and I have a baby on the way, so life is going to be a bit different. I am sure I will have plenty to complain about when I get on the radio and it will give me a chance to get out of the house for an hour to get away from a screaming baby.”

Fans of his Swanny and Friends “Hump Day’ show will be relieved to know his new commitments will not affect the popular podcast.

“The podcast is its own thing. The podcast is not for 8am breakfast radio,” he said.

“I have a Dane for radio and a Dane for the podcast. They are not too far different apart from the odd choice word.”

Swan said he was taking a relaxed approach to his pending fatherhood.

“Me and Taylor are very different. My whole life I have said ‘I will deal with it when it comes’ and I will just wing it.

“Taylor is the complete opposite. Taylor has been prepared for about five years and is reading every book and doing every class online and there is more baby stuff here than some of the shops we have been in.

“So, we are treating it very differently but I have been pulled into a couple of classes and am reading some books now.

“I am looking forward to it. It is a new chapter in my life. I have had my fun and now it is time to have some fun in a different way, I guess.”
