Heartbroken Carlton star Zac Williams has created a fundraiser for his sister who has terminal cancer.
Williams, who ruptured his ACL in February and will miss the entire season, revealed the family’s “world was shaken” by the diagnosis on a GoFundMe page.
“My name is Zac Williams and I am fundraising for my older sister Samantha, her husband Nick and their three kids, Mahlie, Nariah & Archer,’’ Williams wrote.
“We wish more than anything we didn’t have to write this but on December 22nd 2021, just 3 days before Christmas, our world was shaken when we were informed Samantha has cancer for the second time. Now over a year later and Samantha is still fighting a now terminal diagnosis. As you can imagine this has had a huge emotional, physical and financial impact on Sam and her family.”
Williams went on to explain that their mother Joy would love to take extended leave from work to help support Samantha and her family.
“.. but this of course is another financial burden the family has to take on,’’ he continued.
“Samantha has a wonderful husband and 3 beautiful children who are doing their best to adjust to their wife & mums ongoing battle.
“All donations will go towards helping pay for medical expenses, ongoing household and living expenses, as well as supporting Joy while she is off work.
“Sending nothing but positive vibes and love to her and her little family.”
Williams is best friends with Port’s Jeremy Finlayson, who is supporting wife Kellie through her cancer battle.
The former GWS midfielder has so far raised close to his target of $15,000.
