Injured Bulldogs star Bailey Smith is celebrating an off-field win.
His passion project, Australian-made drink named Barry, has taken out a Coles Liquor supplier award after being nominated for three awards all up.
“Really proud of what we have been able to achieve in such a short period of time,” Smith said.
“This is just the beginning. This isn’t just a drink. We are building something bigger. Having business to focus on while rehabbing on my ACL has been a blessing in disguise and I can’t wait to get back out there next year.”
Smith joined forces last year on the alcohol venture with fellow superstars Nick and Josh Daicos, Charlie Curnow and NRL star Reece Walsh.
Upon returning from his recent European break where he accelerated his recovery, he was on hand to accept the award.
Smith had developed the idea for Barry while on a trip in Japan with his agent Robbie D’Orazio.
The drink contains shochu, vodka and soda water and comes in two flavours, crushed lemon and watermelon with lemon.
