AFL legend Robert ‘Dipper’ Dipierdomenico has separated from wife Cheryl after 41 years.
Dipierdomenico, who was recently a contestant on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me out of Here!, spent time apart from his wife briefly last year.
On Sunday, she called him out on social media.
After rekindling their romance, a heartbroken Cheryl revealed she had again split from Dipper believing he had sent another woman flowers over Valentine’s Day.
It has been reported that the flowers were for a bereavement, not Valentine’s Day.
The Hawthorn Brownlow medallist told the Herald Sun the split was a family matter and was sad his marriage had broken down.
In an emotional post on Facebook, Cheryl said she was “devastated” and “broken” about the situation. The pair have two children and grandchildren.
Cheryl wrote: “This is a really hard post! Some of my friends say go for it, others say don’t say a word! I have to go with my gut! So I am! I have loved this man for over 45 years! He came back to me in Sept wanting a second chance! I gave it to him because I thought, maybe it was my fault we fell apart!”
She continued: “Up until Valentine’s Day I was the happiest girl in the world having my family back as a whole! Then I found out he sent (another woman) flowers and champagne for Valentine’s Day!!!! My world crumbled! Back to square one!!!!! Why why why! I’m devastated and broken but now I know it’s done!!!”
Dipper, 62, spoke about how much he missed his family during his stint in the jungle, and was admired for his positive attitude and honesty.
He also grew his Instagram following to almost 100,000.
Dipper has also worked closely with former AFL footballer Jake Edwards, who is currently on Married At First Sight.
Edwards’ charity, Outside the Locker Room, is a mental health program for schools and sporting clubs.
