A former AFL player who strapped on the boots for Carlton and Gold Coast is expected to be one of the new Big Brother contestants, rumoured to be joining a mummy blogger and a mining electrician on the rebooted show.

Former AFL player Daniel Gorringe is believed to be one of the new Big Brother housemates.

Gorringe played for the Gold Coast and Carlton but injuries cut his career short.

He played 22 games for the Suns from 2011-2015 and then four games for Carlton from 2016-2017.

Gorringe is normally active on social media but there were no posts to his accounts between mid February and early April.

According to former Big Brother housemate Benjamin Norris for TV Blackbox, Gorringe, 27, will be joined by mummy blogger Zoe George and Ian W from Western Australia.

Channel 7 has confirmed one contestant, Mat from Broken Hill, a mining electrician.

Filming of the new series with host Sonia Kruger was briefly stopped at the end of March due to COVID-19 but it has been prerecorded in Sydney. Only the finale will be live with a public vote.

Kruger recently revealed this year’s housemates range in age from 19-61.

The network has confirmed there will be 20 contestants competing for $250,000.

The show is due to air in early June.
