Eliminated MasterChef contestant Dani Venn says she regrets her choice of dish, rather than erring in not using her immunity pin.
“It was about backing myself,’’ she said.
“It was such an early stage in the competition and I thought I should hold onto it. I think I’ve been watching too much Survivor.
“I cracked like a runny egg. I should have chosen a different dish.”
Venn said she gambled and lost, but still felt like a winner.
The 34 year-old landed in the bottom two after serving undercooked eggs with Thai chilli jam.
“Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. To win the first challenge was incredible and I made my mark,’’ she said.
“The pressure did build up in the last few challenges and I was missing my little babies at home.
“It is such an amazing show and yes, I only lasted a few weeks, but I will continue on my food journey.”
Venn has captured the attention of the Sri Lankan community after cooking her first winning dish.
“It’s so heartwarming they’ve adopted me basically and there’s a lot of love coming from Sri Lanka,’’ she said.
“I can’t wait to go back there.”
She said she had plans to open a healthy fast food store but lockdown due to COVID-19 has put a pause on that.
She said she thinks the winner will come out of Laura, Reynold or Tessa.
“Reynold was the one who upped the ante,’’ she said.
