Rebel Wilson sparks backlash over decision to party just weeks after welcoming daughter

Rebel Wilson has been slammed for attending a party just weeks after welcoming her first child via surrogate as her girlfriend opens up about parenthood.

REBEL Wilson’s partner has opened up about the joys of parenthood, describing how welcoming the star’s baby daughter via surrogate has been “life-changing” and made the pair reassess their priorities.

It comes after Wilson sparked backlash from mothers after footage emerged of her partying with girlfriend Ramona Agruma just weeks after the birth of Royce Lillian Elizabeth.

Agruma told Seven’s The Morning Show on Thursday how she and Wilson had changed their priorities since welcoming baby Royce.

“It’s really amazing and I never thought it would feel this way. It’s very special. I really enjoy it.

“Priorities change and when you think ‘I wish I could go to have a massage’, instead you are like ‘No, I just want to spend time with her and be at home’.”

The loungewear designer, who founded clothing brand Lemon Ve Limon and recently launched a capsule collection with Wilson called R&R Club, also dismissed previous reports that she and Wilson were engaged.

“I think Rebel posted already that it was fake news. Or something like that ... we don’t have time to think about it, honestly.”

Agruma said Wilson’s Sydney-based mother was in Los Angeles, bonding with her new granddaughter and “having fantastic family time together”.

In a since-deleted post, Wilson, 42, filmed herself hitting the dance floor at a soiree thrown by Paris Hilton over the weekend, with Agrumaby her side.

The event in Santa Monica was to celebrate the launch of Hilton‘s virtual realm ‘Paris World’, and took place five days after announced her child’s birth, 7News reports.

According to various outlets, Wilson and Agruma also reportedly attended Leonardo DiCaprio’s 48th birthday party at about this time.

But while the new mum looked to be letting her hair down for the night, fans were divided over her choice to leave her newborn at home so soon after her birth.

Many of her followers were quick to flood the comments section to criticise the Pitch Perfect star for partying so soon after welcoming the newborn daughter she had “longed for”.

“Total sliving last night! Congrats, Paris Hilton,” Wilson captioned her now deleted clip on Instagram.

“Sliving” is a slang term meaning glamorously successful, self-empowered and fulfilled.

“I sure as heck wouldn’t have left my newborn to go partying the week she was born! Whether I had birthed her myself or not is irrelevant!,”one person wrote.

“I think she may regret this post in a few weeks’ [or] months’ time,” another said.

“She can do whatever she wants, as can any mum, but it does seem a little odd that a week after a baby that she longed for [for] so long arrives and she’s out partying. Even if it was for an hour or so, it still seems a bit strange.”

Another asked Wilson to “think of the woman” who gave birth to her baby.

“Ummm sorry?!? Didn’t you just get given a baby this week. So confused right now. This is the most important time to bond with your baby, not party,” one person commented.

“I was shocked when I saw this post but after seeing all the comments on here I really don’t need to add anything. My views are covered here too,” another said.

Despite the backlash, there were plenty of fans who came to Wilson’s defence.

“Are mothers not allowed to let their hair down? Are mothers not allowed to take a break for their own self, their own soul? None of us have any idea what is going on in Rebel’s life so don’t think for one second that you have any right to judge,” one commented.

Another added: “There are plenty of women who go out, without their baby, early on in parenthood.”

Wilson recently opened up about her infertility struggles in a candid interview with People.

The actress said she was “devastated” when she received the news that the eggs she had harvested “had not survived being thawed.”

Following the news of Royce’s birth, she told the publication that holding her child for the first time was “overwhelming and exciting.”
