Hugh Jackman says attending NFL game with Taylor Swift didn’t help him ‘feel great about career’

Australian actor Hugh Jackman has revealed why attending an NFL game with Taylor Swift and Blake Lively didn’t help him “feel great” about his career.

He may be one of the most successful actors in Hollywood, but Australian showbiz veteran Hugh Jackman didn’t feel too “great” about his career after attending an NFL game with Taylor Swift.

The X-Men star, 55, was one of the countless celebrities in Swift’s suite last October for a Kansas City Chiefs game in New York, an outing which marked only the second time the pop star had publicly supported her boyfriend Travis Kelce at one of his matches.

Jackman formed the star-studded entourage alongside husband-and-wife duo Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, as well as Sophie Turner, Sabrina Carpenter and director Shawn Levy.

However, given the extreme attention on Swift, and the buzz surrounding her then-brand new relationship with the Chiefs tight end, Jackman noticed he was referred to as “others” on media sites after his attendance.

Speaking on the red carpet at the New York premiere of Deadpool x Wolverine Monday, both Jackman and Reynolds conceded they’re upstaged in the popularity stakes anytime they step out with Swift and Lively.

“If you ever really want to, kinda, not feel great about your career, go to [an NFL] game with Taylor Swift and Blake Lively,” Jackman told People.

“Then you’re Blake Lively, Taylor Swift ‘and others’ at the game,” he quipped, with Reynolds adding, “We’re just ‘and others.’”

When Swift attended the Super Bowl in February, having flown into Las Vegas from Tokyo where she was touring, Lively was one of the lucky few to score a spot in the $US3 million suite.

Cameras repeatedly flashed to the two, who were joined by a flurry of famous names including Paul McCartney, Lana Del Rey and Ice Spice.

Kelce famously publicly pursued Swift in July last year after attending her Eras Tour, where he attempted to give the Grammy winner his mobile number on a bracelet.

He later spoke on his podcast about how he failed to meet Swift after her concert, claiming the singer doesn’t allow guests in a bid to protect her singing voice.

Cut to late September, and the pair debuted their relationship in a big way, with Swift attending a Chiefs game alongside Kelce’s mother Donna in Kansas City.

“Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy,” Kelce later told his co-host and brother, Jason Kelce, on their New Heights podcast.

“I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light.”
