Blake Lively expertly upstages Ryan Reynolds in epic outfit at Deadpool 3 premiere

In very on-brand behaviour, Blake Lively has yanked all the attention at the premiere of her husband Ryan Reynolds’ much-anticipated film Deadpool 3.

Blake Lively has expertly upstaged husband Ryan Reynolds at the premiere of his latest film.

The US actress, 36, attended the New York premiere of Marvel’s much-anticipated third Deadpool movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside the actor, who stars in the titular role.

While Reynolds, 47, wore a classic suit, Lively brought the drama, flaunting a feminine version of his character’s signature red jumpsuit.

Lively’s supermodel friend Gigi Hadid also attended the event in costume, putting a fashionable spin on the attire of Australian actor Hugh Jackman’s character Wolverine, whose role has sensationally been reprised in the upcoming movie after being killed off in 2017’s Logan.

While her outfit choice could be perceived as a cheeky nod to Reynolds, it might also confirm speculation Lively is set to feature in Deadpool & Wolverine, as the new character ‘Lady Deadpool’.

A trailer released in June first teased a female variant of the beloved antihero set to debut in the film, which hits cinemas on July 25.

Reynolds’ Deadpool can be heard saying in a voiceover, “I’m about to lose everything that I’ve ever cared about”, as footage shows a mysterious woman rocking a long blonde ponytail – the exact same hairstyle Lively sported at Monday’s premiere.

Has Blake Lively confirmed she is Lady Deadpool?

It comes after Reynolds opened up about his fight to get the first Deadpool made, having begun talks back in 2004.

He first played the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, before the debut Deadpool movie was finally released in 2016.

But with a small budget (by Marvel standards) of $US58 million, Reynolds was forced to sacrifice his salary.

“When I finally got to make it, it had been almost 10 years at that point. No part of me was thinking when Deadpool was finally greenlit that this would be a success,” Reynolds told The New York Times.

“I even let go of getting paid to do the movie just to put it back on the screen.”

His move paid off, with Deadpool making a whopping $US782.8 million at the global box office, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever at the time.

The 2018 sequel, Deadpool 2, went on to make more than its predecessor, raking in $US785.8 million worldwide.
