Gold Logie nominee Julia Morris has urged people to be vigilant and have regular skin checks after a malignant skin cancer was discovered near her right eyebrow just days before the Logie Awards.
Morris will have the concerning spot surgically removed in the very near future.
The growth was found during her regular skin check in the lead up to last Sunday’s TV’s gala.
“It was the perfect time to go and see my skin specialist because I thought what I really need burnt off and cut out are five different types of exciting sun tan,” Morris quipped.
“I managed the jackpot of a little malignant melanoma and that is my fourth.”
She joked: “I did say to the specialist, ‘can I get through the Logies?’”
On a serious note Morris said the growth had been caught early and “will be taken out at the appropriate time.
“It is good to get checked very thoroughly. Everyone should do it.”
Morris, dressed in a magnificent Alin Le’Kal gown, owned the red carpet at the Logies, spending more than two hours on the ruby rug with her I’m A Celebrity (IAC) co-host Robert Irwin.
The pair are yet to hear if they will be returning to the IAC jungle next year.
“I am really crossing my fingers that I am going back to the jungle because honestly it is my favourite, favourite job that I have ever done in my whole career,” Morris said.
“I am crossing everything that it is happening.”
Ten usually confirms its IAC plans at its Upfront presentation which this year is taking place in mid September.
Morris continues to grow in power and popularity as a performer, but she takes nothing for granted and is especially grateful to Channel 10 for continuing to back her.
“I have had tremendous, tremendous support,” she said.
“I am working in prime time. Let’s face it, I am a verbal risk at all times, the fact that anyone will put their love and support behind me continuously is not only exciting, it is not lost on me at all.”
