McGuire’s Hot Breakfast show on Triple M has undergone a shuffle, losing comedian Wil Anderson and leaving McGuire and Luke Darcy to co-host with rotating guests.

“The ratings are bouncing around everywhere, it’s all over the place,’’ he said.

“At the start of the year we were clearly no.1.

“If you know that your show is good then you’re a chance. We don’t worry about that. I’ve been around too long, I’ve seen it all a thousand times.

McGuire says ratings don’t faze him.

“Melbourne is a very competitive market. It’s hard to say (this), because people think it’s a cop out, but you are going for specific demographics. For 25-54 (year-old) males that’s exactly what we’re going for, we’re no. 1 by a mile.

“Breakfast radio is a tough caper.”

McGuire attended the first night of the Australian Open with Emirates.

He said he was confident the show had a winning formula.

One of the rotating guests is broadcaster Steve Price.

“How can you not be at loggerheads with Steve Price,’’ McGuire laughed.

“We were at loggerheads because we were up against each other and he was at 3AW when we were starting Triple M Football and I was up against him head to head. We’ve always been friendly as well.

“We’re very lucky in our show in that we bounce from hard news to comedy to sport to music to entertainment, that’s what makes the show a bit different. A lot of other shows have pretty tight formulas, same segments, ours is based on us, in that we talk about what takes our fancy.”
