THE Josh Thomas comedy drama Please Like Me has been nominated for an International Emmy.
Please Like Me is up against three other nominees — from South Africa, Brazil and Belgium — in the Comedy category.
Thomas will find out if his show will get a gong when the winner is announced at a black-tie ceremony for the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in New York on November 24.
There were 40 nominees in 10 categories announced at the MIPCOM entertainment market in Cannes, France.
The nominations spanned 19 countries.
“In these troubled times in many places around the world, it is gratifying to see so many countries and organisations still striving and competing for excellence in the television programming, “ the Academy president and CEO Bruce Paisner said.
“That is part of the magic of television and of the Emmy.”
At the ceremony, Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner will receive the 2014 International Emmy Founders Award.
The British-Frech drama series, The Tunnel, scored a nomination in the drama section and in the Best Actor for Stephen Dillane.
Olivia Colman was nominated in Best Actress for Broadchurch.
