Ash Williams has praised Abbie Chatfield as “an absolute champ” after it emerged the pair have a jungle romance.
The comedian said Chatfield, a former contestant on The Bachelor, was nothing like he expected.
“I’ve just got to give the old watch and see on that,’’ he said about their I’m a Celeb hook up.
“She’s an absolute champ. I’ve watched her on The Bachelor and she’s nothing like I expected — in a good way.
“She’s a great chick and we shared ... not just her. But with (Grant) Denyer. You go through this experience with people and come out literally falling in love with them. I love Abbie, Denyer, I love them all.”
Williams’ friend Ed Kavalee confirmed the romance while chatting on Hit Hobart’s Jimmy and Nath on Tuesday.
The Have You Been Paying Attention? star spilt the beans while chatting about Williams’ side gig of selling feet photos online.
“He hooked up with Abbie Chatfield in the jungle. He’s Australia’s loosest person. He’s got the smell of lawsuits following him,” Kavalee said.
Williams has spoken of the odd jobs he picked up while trying to find work in LA as he and Chatfield develop a close relationship in camp.
He said his teammate Pettifleur Berenger called him and Denyer after the pair spoke about having no confidence in her to deliver food from the tucker trial.
“She wasn’t happy with Grant and I. She called me and left me a voicemail and all I heard was ‘Ash f... Williams I just saw the promo of what you and Grant Denyer said about me’,’’ Williams said.
“I just pressed stop and thought I’ll deal with it another time.
“We’re tight in the show, that’s why in the promo she was like hang on aren’t you two meant to be our mates. But we were just having a bit of fun. Pettifleur, she called herself a firecracker. She doesn’t muck around, straight on the phone to me leaving me a voicemail.
“I thought we were in trouble because the first thing she said to me was I have a really sensitive nose and I don’t want to eat anything bad.
“I looked at Grant and said we’re on rice and beans for the next three weeks. She did well and surprised everyone. Mad respect for Pettifleur.”
