Police are searching for a truck which sideswiped a car on the M1 near Oxenford in the first of two crashes on the notorious highway.

Emergency services were called just after 5am following reports a car had been sideswiped by a truck on the M1 northbound near Movie World.

The truck did not stop and it is not clear if the driver realised there had been a crash.

The car was stuck on the middle inside lanes and other motorists helped move the car to the side.

The car’s driver and sole occupant was not injured in the crash.

Less than an hour later, a car and motorbike crashed near where the first incident had occurred.

No injuries were reported.

The motorbike rider and his bike got a lift with the tow truck driver.

Hundreds have also been left without power and a grass fire ignited after a truck crashed into a power pole on Beaudesert Beenleigh Rd at Tamborine Mountain just before 7.20am.

The crash sent powerlines to the ground cutting power to more than 600 people.

The downed powerlines also started a small grass fire.

Fire crews were able to easily extinguish the fire.

The truck driver was left with seat belt injuries.

A fourth crash has temporarily blocked a lane on Christine Ave, Burleigh Waters after two cars collided about 8.14am.

Both drivers were able to get out of their cars.

There was minor to moderate damage to the vehicles.
