Seven young people hurt in two-car crash in Gilston

Teenagers and a primary school aged child were among seven young people hurt in a horror two-car crash on the Gold Coast on Monday, with one suffering life-threatening injuries.

Teenagers and a primary school aged child were among seven young people hurt in a horror two-car crash on the Gold Coast on Monday, with one suffering life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to Gilston Rd, near the junction with Evanita Dr, after the two cars collided at 5.07pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics treated seven patients at the scene – all of them between primary school age and their twenties.

The patients included:

* A woman in her twenties who had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries.

* Another person in their twenties in stable condition with a number of injuries.

* A primary school-aged girl with minor injuries.

* A teenage girl with a head injury

* Three more people in their late teens with minor injuries.

Of the seven, three were taken to Robina Hospital and three were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police closed Gilston Rd for a number of hours near the scene of the accident.
