A manhunt is underway following an alleged armed robbery at a Nerang supermarket that saw a 19-year-old staff member threatened at knifepoint.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a man entered the supermarket at a Station St shopping centre at about 7.45pm on Tuesday.
He was captured on CCTV browsing the store and picked up several items before he walked towards the front counter.
It will be alleged that as a 19-year-old female staff member scanned the items, the man produced a large knife and demanded cash. The worker complied and emptied the till.
No one was physically injured during the confrontation.
The man allegedly took an unknown amount of cash and ran from the store.
Police attended the business overnight and collected CCTV footage of the incident.
They say the man they are looking for is caucasian, around 175cm tall wearing a red cap, red shoes, white particle/dust face mask with a beard protruding out, black baggy pants and a loose grey sweatshirt.
His movements after leaving the shopping centre are still unknown.
Officers are appealing for any public assistance as their investigations continue.
Anyone in the vicinity of Station St or Gilston Rd, Nerang at around 7.45pm on Monday, or who may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact police.
