An alleged stolen car loaded with juveniles has rammed a police vehicle on the Gold Coast overnight.

Police sources on the southern Gold Coast have told the Bulletin a patrol car was hit while trying to intercept a stolen Volkswagen on Markeri Street, Mermaid Waters just before midnight.

Officer had received reports of the VW and another stolen car, driving erratically across the city.

A short time later, police used tyre spikes to stop the offending vehicle along Rio Vista Boulevard. The occupants crashed and then ran off, police sources say.

As units were responding and began to patrol the area, another car was reportedly stolen from an address not far away in Northview Street. It’s believed it could be linked to the early incident.

The Queensland Police Service was not aware of a police car being rammed when contacted early on Friday morning by the Bulletin.
