A GOLD Coast teen was nabbed driving at more than twice the alcohol limit only weeks after he was caught hooning and involved in a near-death crash.

Harlan Farmer was busted riding in a Hyundai Getz that was one of several cars reported hooning at Molendinar.

Southport Magistrates Court was told the car was out of control when police arrived.

Farmer used the handbrake while his friend was driving.

The 19-year-old was then riding a motorcycle without a licence when he was struck a ute that failed to give way at Burleigh Heads on August 18.

He was rushed to hospital with a broken back and ribs and a punctured lung.

On September 23, the tyre fitter was caught driving with a reading of 0.11 – more than twice the legal limit.

Farmer told police he had consumed a few beers the previous evening, and was unaware his car was unregistered and uninsured. The court was told the P-plater had realised the error of his ways and wanted to focus on full-time work.

Farmer pleaded guilty to interfering with a motor vehicle as a passenger, drink driving, unlicensed driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and failing to display P-plates. He was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for three months.
