A Gold Coast man has been taken to hospital after he was allegedly attacked by a 21-year-old man at a Surfers Paradise tram stop.
It will be alleged a 34-year-old man got into a verbal altercation with a group of people – including the 21-year-old Upper Coomera man – at the Cavill Ave light rail station about 2.50am on Tuesday.
Police will allege that during the verbal stoush the Upper Coomera man moved behind the older man and physically assaulted him, forcing him to fall to the ground.
Patrolling officers spotted the alleged fight and the younger man fled.
He was tracked to a short distance away.
The alleged victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 21-year-old Upper Coomera man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, obstruct police.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on May 8.
Two teens are also assisting police with inquiries.
