Emergency crews were rushed to a central Gold Coast property after reports of a strange smell.

Police and firefighters searched the United Rd, Ashmore property after the odour issue was reported about 11.30am on Tuesday.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said police found “equipment consistent with the production of hydroponic drugs”.

She did not specify the type of drugs.

No illicit substances were found.

Police are investigating.
