A waste management worker accused of forcing another man to cut off part of his own penis has had bail revoked.

Adam Robert O’Brien is also accused of faking environmental documents to transport asbestos from New South Wales to Queensland.

O’Brien appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday facing about 30 charges including grievous bodily harm, deprivation of liberty, torture and possessing hazardous waste.

It is alleged O’Brien and a group of other men, including Jayden Daniel Sobey, forced a 35-year-old man to cut off the tip of his penis while at a Mermaid Beach home in September last year.

It is alleged the man was threatened and that due to the level of fear, the man used a serrated knife to attempt to cut off about 2mm of his penis.

The man was left being unable to urinate properly.

O’Brien is also alleged to have faked environmental documents to allow him to transport hazardous waste in October last year.

Prosecutor Gavin Reece asked for O’Brien’s bail on all charges to be revoked after he was remanded in custody last month for further offences including wilful damage.

Defence lawyer Alex Somers, of Nyst Legal, said O‘Brien would be contesting “virtually all of the charges”.

“There is no unacceptable risk that he commit further offences,” he said.

“My submission any application to revoke bail is premature and is unjust at this stage.”

Magistrate Mark Howden revoked the bail.

“The defendant has been committing offences for a number of years now,” he said.
