A man accused of running down a woman in his Audi before fleeing the scene will spend the next few weeks in custody.

Liam Jay Summers was not brought into the Southport Magistrates Court when his charges - including grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at an incident and driving without a licence - were mentioned briefly on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old’s lawyer Zak Bagnall, of Bamberry Lawyers, told the court Summers did not wish to apply for bail and asked for a four week adjournment.

Magistrate Ron Kilner adjourned the matter to October 27.

The Carrara man is alleged to have struck a 62-year-old Southport woman with his Audi before driving from the scene.

The woman was found badly injured on Marine Pde, Southport about 10.40pm on September 7.

She was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with significant internal injuries, according to police.

Police will allege they found the car on River Terrace, Coomera days later and seized the vehicle for forensic testing.

Summers was arrested after a search of a Surfers Paradise apartment block.
