REPLAYS: Day 2 of Premier Invitational football tournament

MONTHS of planning came to fruition on a perfect Gold Coast day as the annual Premier Invitational junior football tournament kicked off across three venues on Friday.

Gold Coast Knights NPL Queensland coach Max Wragg took charge of the Knights’ under-11 White team, which ended its opening day with a 1-all draw against Palm Beach SC.

“The message all day is to do your best but go out and have some fun,” Wragg said.

“It’s 15 minutes each way, playing three games a day … try your best but have lots of fun doing it with a smile.”

Centre-back Lachlan Stephenson was a standout for Knights White, with his composure on the ball and commanding voice on the pitch a major asset.

Wragg said the best part of the Premier Invitational was giving kids the chance to play teams outside their usual competitions.

“Playing teams like Palmy who in the season you won’t get to play against … our boys are probably up against some of their school mates, which is just fantastic,” he said.
