THE Oceania under-20 rugby championship on the Gold Coast has been cancelled, depriving the Junior Wallabies of the chance to defend their title.

Oceania Rugby has announced the annual four-nation tournament at Bond University couldn’t be staged because of COVID-19 travel and quarantine restrictions.

‘BIG STEP FORWARD’ FOR COAST RUGBY

The event was scheduled to run from May 27 to June 6.

Australia beat New Zealand 24-0 to clinch last year’s crown, after the Kiwis had won the first four editions of the tournament.
