GOLD Coast trainer Steve Field had horses at either end of the field at Beaudesert but his maiden win with Secret Conquest had him leaving the track a happy man.
Secret Conquest won Thursday’s Maiden Handicap (1200m) by two lengths from De Vega Peach and Ice Elite.
The four-year-old mare missed the start but the $2.90 favourite made up ground quickly from the back of the field, settling in fourth before making it’s move forward with 500m to run and storming home from three-wide with jockey Allan Chau.
The win came a week after Secret Conquest finished fourth in a 1100m Maiden at Gold Coast while carrying an extra 3.5kg.
She finished strongly in the previous race at Gold Coast, hitting the line with speed to burn and appreciated the added distance on offer at Beaudesert.
Secret Conquest joined Field’s stable before her first start at Tara Race Club on October 5 where the she finished eighth of nine runners.

The mare was one of two runners Field had on the day, with $101 chance Kendo Fighter unable to muster the speed required in the 1650m Maiden Plate, won by John Smerdon’s Heathrow.
It was a day for the favourites at Beaudesert on Thursday with four of the seven winners backed in by punters to claim victory on the day.
Desleigh Forster’s Cabalo Escuro was the shortest-priced favourite to win at $1.70 and went on to claim the Class 1 Handicap (1200m) by nearly five lengths to Eskdale Girl.
