NOEL Greenhalgh’s Broadbeach holiday home has become the annual meeting point for a summer party following his third successive win in a $1 million Magic Millions race.
The part-owner of Madam Rouge is making a habit of finding success at Queensland’s richest race day with his four-year-old horse winning the Magic Millions Snippets on Saturday.
Greenhalgh won the 2018 and 2019 Trophy with Tumultuous and while the horse couldn’t win it for a third time, Madam Rouge saluted one race later in his colours for Chris Waller’s stable.
“We had a crack with (Tumultuous) but he wasn’t going too well and we were expecting big things from Madam Rouge. She duely obliged,” Greenhalgh said.
“I have been buying horses for the Magic Millions for a long time. It’s taken a long time to get to the point where we are winning them, and more than one.
“Chris Waller’s influence is huge, he picks these horses and places them so well. It’s incredible what he does.
Greenhalgh won his first Magic Millions race in 2018 after 25 years of trying and now he has three titles to his name.

The mare was bought for $310,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and now has $992,465 in prizemoney to her name.
“I really had an affinity for her (at the sales) and I bought a fair percentage, around half, of her,” Greenhalgh said.
“I sold some to some mates of mine who work in the markets in Rocklea and it gives you a great thrill when you get a bit of success for guys who you encourage to put a few dollars in. “It’s been a great ride.”
It was also a big win for jockey James McDonald who missed out on celebrating a victory with Primitivo in the prior race after being overweight.
“The way she is winning races, I don’t think she is finished yet,” Waller said.
“It’s a big week and good to get a horse like her up here. She was well placed and it was a great ride from James.
“He didn’t take any risks, he just angled his way out and set sail for home. We needed all the straight but we got there.
“With her last start win and last preparation as well you can see she has the makings of a really good horse. I think she can win a good race.”
