INVINCIBELLA won’t return for a crack at winning a fourth Magic Millions Fillies & Mares race in 2021 with the mare set to retire from racing to start her breeding career.

The six-year-old Chris Waller-trained mare was steered home in the 1300m $1 million race by premier jockey Hugh Bowman on Saturday while carrying 60kg, the most of any of her three wins and any winner of the race in the past 15 years.

Denise Martin, one of Australia’s leading syndication operators who bought Invincibella for $185,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, said the mare was set to retire from racing.

“She is fabulous. We have plans at the moment to retire her and sell her at the broodmare sale here at the end of May.

“To win a $1 million Magic Millions race three times is pretty special.”

Brisbane husband and wife Oliver Enriquez and Kathryn Wood-Enriquez said it would be an emotional moment the day she retired.

“She is such a terrific horse and as strong as they come,” Kathryn Wood-Enriquez said.

“You don’t get many like her. Some just want to be mothers too early but she has left her best until last.

“She has got to be the number one mare we have had. We also had Foxplay who did herself, and us, proud. There is something special about Invincibella.”

Foxplay won two Group 2 races before winning her maiden Group 1 in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes in 2017.

Waller said it was always his intention to defend the title.

“After each year when you win … you like to go back and defend the crown,” Waller, who operates a Gold Coast stable, said.

“They have to be good enough to do it of course and it’s good to be involved with these types of horses.

“(The Group 1 win) cements her value (as a broodmare) and (shows) how good she actually is. She is performing at the highest level and doing it the right way.”
