The Magic Millions set the benchmark for fun again last night with a swanky beachfront launch party under a giant marquee.
After yesterday morning’s beachfront horse race, more than 450 guests including event ambassador and Royal Zara Tindall with husband Mike Tindall joined Millions co-owners Katie Page and Gerry Harvey on the Surfers Paradise foreshore for the invite-only do.
Australian song star Darryl Braithwaite made a surprise appearance and belted out a fittingly stirring rendition of his hit The Horses.
Waiters served Moet champagne and guests were treated to locally sourced spanner crab, drinks with cucumber from Mr Harvey’s produce farm and sashimi cuts sliced off a giant 50kg tuna caught off the Queensland coast.

Cook and Waiter owner David O’Brien who did the catering said the “brief” from Ms Page was local suppliers and an “elevated beach party”.
“It’s a beach party but it’s not ostentatious,” Mr O’Brien said.
Seven Gold Coast news and weather presenter Liz Cantor — styled by Gold Coast’s The Style Files — shone in a sleek black Alice McCall dress and said it was so exciting to see the Coast’s foreshore utilised.
“I don’t think we have enough venues that celebrate what we have to offer. It’s very exciting to have a drink with a Bali/Seminyak feel on the beach.”

Star Entertainment Group managing director Geoff Hogg whose company is in the first year of a three year major sponsorship of Magic Millions said the yearling sale’s 10-day festival had become a quintessential Gold Coast celebration.
“Nothing says Gold Coast like having a party on the beachfront with a view overlooking the ocean.
“We want these major events to grow the Gold Coast as a destination,” Mr Hogg said.
Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch, referencing the yearling auction start at 10am today ((Wed)), said the event’s greatest asset was its yearling catalogue.
“We have our vendors to thank and we understand the privilege it is to represent you.”
