IT may be off-season but Bulletin football gossip guru The Sniper is staying busy, identifying the top five free agents Gold Coast Premier League clubs should be chasing.

1. Teddy Watson

The striker had a mixed season this year under Grae Piddick and might be on the lookout for a new home as the Knights progress to the NPL. This is an addition any team would gladly accept, but his former coach might be the best option for the Englishman this off-season.

2. Bruno Rodriguez

The Surfers captain had arguably his best season in a long time at Apollo, and with former coach Dave Benigno now at the helm at the Eagles there might be a bit of traction and market for the midfielder. It will be interesting to see what he decides to do and whether it will be a decision based on football or financial.

3. Kazuma Kobayashi

The goal-scoring defender had a solid first season at the Bulldogs. With a makeshift backline for the majority of the back end of the season, coach Colin Phelan will be eager to re-sign the Japanese defender. It will be crucial for the Bulldogs to regain Kobayashi if they are to put together a team good enough for a title run.

4. Sebastian Burich

This may be a surprise name but although the Chilean missed majority of the 2018 season, his signature will be one that if a club can grab will bring a huge boost. Adding Burich will not only strengthen a side on the park but his ability to attract his fellow South Americans could be a good pick up for one of the clubs. A key factor could also be if he ends up staying in the country.

5. Dean Wernerson

After trading the yellow of Gold Coast United for the red of Gold Coast Knights during the season, Wernerson’s return home did not go as expected. The player seemed to not fit in with the way Piddick wanted to play this season and it now leaves a major doubt in his mind for 2019. It seems as though a way back to United is slim with Michael Thwaite and Oskar Dillon there, so which Premier League club is the best fit for the versatile defender?
