After former coach Michael Cook relinquished his role in May this year, interim coaches Craig Midgely and Alex Bundalo have surfsiders to seven straight wins.

United are undefeated since May 4 and in their past nine games, have recorded seven wins, two draws and 36 goals while only conceding five.

Midgely, who serves as the club’s technical director, said that he was impressed by the team’s remarkable consistency after deciding to place a large emphasis on team morale when he took up the role earlier this season.

“I thought I could come into the coaching set up and bring something they needed,” he said.

“It hasn’t been any magical coaching but I guess more improving the atmosphere and mindset of the girls.

“We’ve got our consistency going and we have a very settled side which helps us with the shape of the team and everyone knowing their roles.

“It’s a very happy environment.”

On top of United’s on field success, the club has also managed to give fans an insight into the future after blooding 15-year-old Claudia Danckert last weekend who became the youngest player to represent United.

“We want to give players an opportunity if they’re good enough,” said Midgely.

“We have Annabelle Gibson play come into the side seven weeks ago and we’ve won seven on the trot since then with her down back and she’s only just turned 16.”

Despite United producing their stellar run against lower ranked opponents, Midgely was confident his side could produce their best against current top four sides, with only three teams sitting above the club on the NPL ladder at present.

“They’re (Lions) the best side in the competition and Moreton Bay are also very strong so we have to be at our best to get the results,” he said.

“Any team is beatable.”

United play the Gap tonight (7pm) at Walton Bridge Reserve.
