After a debilitating hip injury derailed his entire 2018 campaign, veteran defender Levi Hilton is finally back playing football, albeit in different colours but with the same goal.
After spending 18 months on the sidelines with a hip complaint, the 36-year-old made a few appearances for Burleigh earlier this season before suspension mishaps drove him to the sidelines again, prompting Hilton to transfer to Coast League 1 side Robina.
COAST FOOTBALL’S NEXT SOCCEROO?
“I had a chat to Phelo (Colin Phelan) and the reserves coaches and told them that all I wanted to do was play,” he said.
“I thought it was a good option.”
Despite dropping a league, Hilton still maintains a burning desire to return to the Coast’s top level as Robina edge closer to Premier League promotion after a near faultless 2019 season.
“It would be amazing,” he said of a potential promotion.
“Ever since I got here, it’s been a great vibe and I’d love to be involved next year with the team being so close to a promotion that we could have a title at a Premier League title.”
THE HALF-TIME SPRAY THAT INSPIRED BURLEIGH’S BIG WIN
After serving the last of his suspension last week, Hilton will get the chance to debut for the Rabbits next Thursday against Kingscliff after a month training with his new side.
“I just want to get out there,” he said.
“I’m probably 80% fit at the moment but the body is feeling really good.”
