AS the race for the Gold Coast Premier League top four heats up, both Nerang and Coomera blew the chance to go level with Palm Beach on 25 points in catch up action on Tuesday night.
Both teams currently sat level on 22 points prior to the match, but neither top four contender performed at their peak with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
Paydan Pemberton was the sole scorer for Coomera while Jackson broke through for Nerang.
Eagle’s technical director and stand in coach Keith Garland said that the visitors couldn’t quite take their chances in a scrappy first half.
“I thought our first half was excellent,” he said.
“They did exactly what I asked them to do.
“The only thing we missed is that finishing touch.
“We deserved at least a draw today.”

Coomera coach Steve Macdonald agreed that there weren’t too many highlights to come out of the draw.
“I don’t we were great to be honest,” he said.
“Chances were very minimal at both ends.
“A point apiece is a fair result.”

With their Premier League season now on hold until July 27, Macdonald said the Colts would now turn all their attention towards the club’s FFA cup match next week.
“We’ve got the weekend off so we’ll train Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday and then look forward to it,” he said.
“We can start looking forward to it now.”
