OVERVIEW OF SURFERS PARADISE AFTER ROUND 9 WITH DEMONS COACH BRAD MOORE

Ladder position: 2nd

Results: 6 wins, 1 loss, 2 byes

Percentage: %128.90

Rating: A-

“It’s been a really good start to the season. I couldn’t have asked for anything better than a 6-1 start at the beginning of the year. We have made steady progress over the last three years so it’s really pleasing to see it getting us some results.”

Highlight: “Our highlight was probably the Labrador win (19.16-130 to 5.5 35) because it was a full four quarter performance at home and we were able to have a really big win.”

Lowlight: “The lowlight would be our (20.10 130 to 6.7 43) loss to Palm Beach Currumbin in Round 6. We just didn’t turn up and play anywhere near our best and we had a heavy loss there.”

Star: “That’s a tough one. We have had a really good even spread of players this year. I suppose it would be difficult to go past Jack Yelland who is a new recruit to the footy club and was selected in the state side as well. He has been great for our midfield and probably allowed a few players to bring the best out of them as well.

Kain Ford has had a really great start to our season and you can’t go past Sam Hilton-Joyce, the 16-year-old who has been holding his spot and averaging three goals a game. It’s been a good even spread but I suppose If I had to pick one Jack has been a massive part of our rise.”

Backbone: “Nick Scott’s leadership has been fantastic. He is another state representative and his leadership and ability to hold our back six together has been exceptional. He has probably been the backbone to everything. He is nearly my right-hand man out on the ground.”
