Southport Sharks induct 15 new players to their Hall of Fame

The Southport Sharks Hall of Fame has extended to 74 following the addition of 15 more players into the prestigious list of inductees. Meet the newest members here.

The Southport Sharks Hall of Fame has extended to 74 following the addition of 15 more players into the prestigious list of inductees.

The Sharks welcomed the newest batch of club legends while celebrating 30 years at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday.

Sam Gilbert, Daniel Merrett, Kurt Tippett, Andrew Raines, Jesse White, Leigh Ryswyk, Peter Riewoldt, Paul Siede, Jason Burge, Ben Headland, Ben Merrett, Wayde Mills, Fraser Pope, Glen Screech and Josh Baxter were given the honour.

All but Gilbert, Tippett, White and Riewoldt were in attendance.

They join Davey Burns, Bob Manuel, Ken McDonald, Don Brown, Harold Peacock, Ian Radcliff, Ken Roger and Ian Rapkins in the Hall of Fame.

Sam Gilbert:

— Coolangatta Junior

— Sharks Premiership 2005

— Drafted in 2005 by St Kilda with Pick 33

— Played 208 AFL games

Daniel Merrett:

— Came to Southport from other sports through the AFLQ Talent Search program

— Drafted in 2002 by Brisbane with Pick 30

— Played 200 AFL games

— Playing Life Member of Brisbane Lions

— Currently an Assistant Coach of Lions AFLW team and playing for Coorparoo Kings
