SOUTHPORT Sharks president Alan Mackenzie has earmarked Andrew Boston as a future club hall of famer ahead of his 100th NEAFL game.
Boston will reach the milestone in Southport’s Round 13 NEAFL game against the Northern Territory Thunder at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday.
Mackenzie said Boston would be a likely candidate for the club’s prestigious Hall of Fame when his football career ends as the Sharks prepare to induct its newest members to the elite group on July 6 as part of it’s ‘30 years of Fankhauser Reserve’ celebrations.

“He has been a tremendous acquisition for us,” Mackenzie said of the Sharks junior and current NEAFL captain who spent three years on the Gold Coast Suns list.
“He is just a really good honest player who does all the hard things.
“He is a terrific team man and great on field leader. He has come back from his AFL stint and had a really positive attitude to playing the NEAFL and just wants to play as good a footy as he can.”
Mackenzie said Boston returned from the AFL a changed player and it helped propel the club to a premiership in 2018.
“He certainly came back as a more complete player, particularly his intensity around the footy. “He has always been an elite kick which he still is but his hardness and repeat efforts are really what stands him out now.
“He gets heavy attention from the opposition every week because he is the number one midfielder. He shrugs that off and keeps banging in.”
Mackenzie has known Boston virtually his whole life and said he always showed a talent with the footy in hand.
“Certainly from a very early junior he was always a standout player,” Mackenzie said.
“He continued that through his teenage years and got himself drafted. It’s been a terrific career for him and he thoroughly deserves his 100 NEAFL games.”
