Southport’s Jamison Shea has become the 15th Southport Sharks player to earn a NEAFL Rising Star nomination. Some are still on the list and others are in the AFL. See the list of Sharks young stars who have been given the honour here.

SOUTHPORT’S Jamison Shea has become the 15th Southport Sharks player to earn a NEAFL Rising Star nomination.

The midfield-forward was named among the Sharks best yet again in their 15-point win over Northern Territory Thunder at Fankhauser Reserve on Saturday.

In wet conditions, the 21-year-old collected 20 disposals, five marks, four inside 50s and 108 Champion Data ranking points.

Since joining Southport this year, the Northern Knights product has booted 10 goals from eight games and averaged 17 disposals and five marks per game.

Shea spent two seasons with Footscray in the VFL before his move north, where he was lured to the NEAFL by premiers Southport.

He is the first Southport player to be nominated for the award this year and the housemate of Gold Coast Suns players Jack Bowes and Darcy Macpherson he still holds aspirations of reaching the AFL.

The NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the NEAFL competition.

Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games (excluding games as AFL club academy players) at the start of the 2019 season.
