A SAVVY brother with links to an English Premier League club and the wise council of The Guru have propelled Louise Pase to the Village Roadshow Theme Parks' Gold Coast Cyber League championship.

Pase was crowned the overall winner of the competition, her eligible team tallying a total of 8960 points over the course of the season to stand atop the ladder.

Nao Grati finished second on 8885.She won four rounds throughout the season and came runner-up twice, averaging 689 points per week.

As runner-up, Grati wins The Ultimate VIP Experience at Australian Outback Spectacular, valued at $3119.88.

"It’s been great fun playing in the Cyber League," Pase said.

"My brother and I initially subscribed to the Gold Coast Bulletin, so my ageing father could read his favourite paper every day.

"But I quickly found as a local property developer, I could keep up with the latest real estate news across the week. Then I saw the Cyber League and thought I’ll have a go at this.

"The saying goes there is no I in team. But the I in my team stands for Ian, my brother.

"His football knowledge is partially behind my great run.

"He played most of his 'soccer' in Sydney. Playing for various teams, on the northern beaches, and for Manly Warringah, lining up against Dynamo Moscow at the Sydney Sports Ground.

"He kicked the ball around in England for a while. He always talks about a moving moment when he walked up the tunnel at Wembley on to the ground to the sound of a cheering crowd. His parents-in-law ran the pub opposite Tottenham’s ground for many years.

"He played at Southport for a few years captaining their team to the President’s Cup win over Musgrave.

"He later coached his three sons at Southport for nine years and was manager when his eldest was in the under-14 grand final-winning team. The other boys went on to represent Gold Coast football and Gold Coast rugby union.

"The next generation has come along, and he hopes to have some back at Southport soon.

"It’s in their blood, his insight has certainly helped with my great run. Although, I must admit I did take quite a few pointers from The Guru.

"Thanks again, I have really appreciated the fantastic prizes that have been presented."

He made multiple changes to his squad leading into the past fortnight, offloading injured players to maximize his return.

Others have been caught out, dropping potential points by carrying absent players in their teams in a move that has cost them.

“Making those transfers has really helped me and if the others did it then they would be right up there, too,” Mulhearn said.

CYBER League teams will need to make hay while the sun shines with Henry Adams because the competition’s most prolific point scorer may only be around for the season and at worst, gone before it ends.

Adams has been the pick up of the season so far for Cyber League pundits with the Robina midfielder amassing an incredible 440 points in the early stages of the season on the back of his six goals from five appearances.

But debate will rage over his selection ahead of the opening weekend of the Cyber League competition given Adams could propel teams to triumph while also carrying risk of their demise.

The 21-year-old has indicated he will likely head to the United Kingdom for a second time to trial with teams overseas in a bid to make a career out of football.

Adams said it was possible he would have to jet off from Australia before the season is out, given pre-season starts around July in the UK before the season proper commences around August.

The final round of the FQPL3 regular season is scheduled for the first weekend of August.

“I may have to leave early, time will tell,” Adams said.

“I’m hoping I can stay for the duration of the season.”

Adams football journey only began at the age of 15 and only through sheer work rate has the rugby union junior been able to fast track his skills to the point where he is considering making a living from the game.

After stints with the Southport Eagles Rugby Union Club and a season with Runaway Bay Rugby League Club Adams linked up with Gary Scott, the director of Academy of Football Australia.

While most players trained twice a week, Adams did four sessions with AFA and would often back up to do his normal club training in a move he said fastracked his development.

“Without that work with Gary and AFA I wouldn’t be playing where I am now,” Adams said.

“They help players develop individually first and it has been huge for me.”

After a short stint at Merrimac Football Club Adams joined Nerang and shifted to Robina for the 2022 season.

Both of Adam’s parents are English, providing him with a UK passport and the ability to live, play football and work there.

He travelled to Scotland in 2019 to trial with Dundee but had to fly out a day before it started as Covid took its grip on the globe.

It followed a successful trial with Kidderminster in England where he was offered a place on their under-23 team while he also played with college football in Muskegon, Michigan in the US last year.

Now he is planning out his return to the UK where he hopes to take another step towards achieving his dream of becoming a professional footballer.
