Queensland are going to the big dance to take on NSW Combined High Schools after they snatched a late victory from rivals NSW Combined Catholic Colleges on Thursday.

Queensland fullback Billo Wotton, who moved to the centres for the do-or-die clash, scored two tries in the final five minutes to run over the top of their NSW rivals 22-16.

Despite the wet conditions in Wauchope, the two sides traded blows in a classic clash that leant into its billing as essentially a national championships semi-final.

After two days of wash outs, the ASSRL under-15/16 National Championships will return to action on Thursday, and it is all to play for.

NSW Combined Independent Schools will clash with ACT in their final pool game of the national tournament, with the side needing to win by more than 42 points to unseat finals-bound rivals NSW Combined High Schools on for-and-against.

Due to the lost days, the tournament will not feature semi-finals, so it is all to play for in the final round.

With the grand final match-up already pre-determined in the Under-16 girls national championship, the teams will face off in a series of shortened round robin matches on Thursday afternoon.

Victoria appear destined for Friday’s boys Pool B decider, but who joins them will be decided on Thursday afternoon in the final round robin games.

Western Australia will take on the First Nations Goannas, with a win for the Goannas propelling them into final showdown.

However the Northern Territory may have one final spanner to throw into the works if they can upset the Victorians.

Every match of the ASSRL Under-15 and Under-16 National Championships will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV from June 30-July 5.
