For many in the Rollers squad, the championships provides their first real foray into a top tier junior championship.
But it is an opportunity coach Nick Davel believes they will take with both hands.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to see where they are at and to be able to play at this level with their club mates, which doesn’t happen in the older age groups here in Queensland,” Davel said.
“I’m excited to watch us compete against the best in the country and do Queensland proud.
“I’m looking forward to showing how strong our competition is up here and watching two very strong, well coached teams in Ipswich and Logan compete alongside of us. It’s going to be a great week.”
The Rollers have pulled together a strong 10-man squad to compete at the nationals, but three players in particular could hold the key to their chances of bringing home the gold.
Jordan Kaesler (13yrs, PG)
‘Jordy’ is a dynamic point guard with a high basketball IQ. He has elite court vision for his age and is one of the best passers in Queensland.
He is a knockdown shooter from deep and a relentless on-ball defender who is ready to play a big role at Nationals.
Will Remington (13yrs, C)
Will is an offensive force in the paint, our starting center has a soft touch around the rim and an array of finishes at his disposal.
The athletic big man runs the lanes quickly and knows how to get to the right spots on the offensive end.
Hunter Cream (13yrs, PF)
The athletic forward has an innate ability for making plays and getting scores at will. With a great work ethic and endless energy, Hunter has developed into a leading role throughout the season.
His versatility and ability to make something out of nothing means he’s an exciting prospect to watch and is ready for a big week at nationals.
