WHO’S COMING OUT ON TOP?
The question on everybody’s lips is will the Spectres haunt the nation again in 2023?
The Nunawading club was a dominant force last year striking national gold in both the boys and girls divisions in Sydney.
The boys were unstoppable during last year’s tournament, not dropping a game on their way to the gold, which capped off a year of hard work according to coach Rick Vos.
“I’m so excited for these boys, they’ve worked really hard for 12 months to get to this point,” Vos said.
“We’re really proud of our club. We received tremendous support across the whole campaign.”
The Spectres will be back to reclaim their gold medal in Victoria, with the boys kickstarting their nationals campaign with matches against Canberra and Warwick Senators on the opening day.
The Nunawading girls side opens its campaign against Norths Bears on the Sunday.
But there will be plenty of teams determined to knock the Victorian powerhouse club off its perch this year, with Warwick Senators, Illawarra Hawks, Norwood Flames, Canberra, Northwest Devils, Darwin Cyclones and Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai Spiders all clubs with both girls and boys teams at the tournament.
