Run chases that left teams without nails, five wicket hauls that saved matches, a first grade memorial shield that could have gone either way.

We highlight the top performances for the weekend across the senior and junior grades.

Performances of the Week:

Adam Rogers – 101* (94)

Round 4: Mudgeeraba v Surfers Paradise Premier Second Grade

Rogers came in at 3-55 only to have another wicket fall shortly after arriving, he then combined with Jaxon Davies for a partnership of 125 to put his side in a winning position.

Tim Macdonald – 89

Round 4: Palm Beach v Queens Premier Third Grade

Needing to get off to a good start, Macdonald put together a number of partnerships, but none more important than the second wicket partnership with Samuel Clark to help their side to 3-315.

Jamie Phillips – 89 (111)

Round 4: Runaway Bay Orange v Surfers Paradise Community Div 3

Phillips opened the batting and helped his side off to a pretty strong start, losing the first wicket at 51. He almost carried his bat, becoming the last person dismissed.

Brad Lodge – 89* (90)

Round 4: Palm Beach v Community Div 3

Opening the batting, Lodge carried his bat and the side throughout the innings, getting Palm Beach to a reasonable total. Despite hitting the highest score of the match, Palm Beach lost by 93 runs.

Samuel Clark – 87

Round 4: Palm Beach v Queens Premier Third Grade

Coming in at number three, Clark put in a strong partnership with opener Tim Macdonald and number four Kyle Summers to get their side to 3-315 and a comfortable winning position.

Jack Lickiss – 79* (99)

Round 5: Helensvale v Premier First Grade

Coming in when the score was 1-5, Lickiss never looked troubled and played to his strengths, putting together a brilliant 118 run partnership with opening bat Paul Baird.

Dayne Siede – 77* (88)

Round 5: Mudgeeraba v Surfers Paradise Premier First Grade

Coming in at number three, Siede played the way he has played the first four rounds of the season and continued to attack the bowlers, helping his side to a defendable total of 7-169.

Joshua Versluis – 7-25 (7)

Round 4: Coomera Hope Island v Alberton Premier Third Grade

It didn’t take long for Versluis to break through, claiming the first wicket but it was the back end of the innings where he claimed six of the final seven wickets for 19 runs.

Ben Hampton – 6-32 (7)

Round 2: Burleigh v Tamborine Mountain Canungra Over 40s Div 3

Hampton was first change for Burleigh, he claimed his first wicket just when a partnership looked like it was brewing for Tamborine. He then claimed five of the next seven wickets.

Matthew Farrell – 5-38 (7)

Round 2: Mudgeeraba v Tamborine Mountain Canungra Over 40s Div 2

In need of someone to come in and take some damage, Matthew Farrell was thrown the ball and it worked a treat in the end. Sitting at 3-186, Farrell then claimed the next four wickets to keep the target to 237.

Juniors

The junior cricket competition is well and truly underway with some teams hitting some massive scores over the weekend.

Surfers Paradise Red in the Under 12’s and Under 13’s Div 2 hit over 300 runs while other teams went the other way being bowled out for as low as 22.

Oliver Gwynne – 100 (73)

Round 2: Surfers Paradise Demons v Surfers Paradise White Under 12’s

Coming in at number three, Oliver partnered with opener Jack Petzke and Jay Dias to help their side reach 8/281 and win by two wickets.

Tobias Wenlock – 5-13 (3 overs)

Round 4: Surfers Paradise Blue v Surfers Paradise Red Under 11’s

The skipper took it upon himself to help his side win the Surfers Paradise clash but fell just short.

Jackson Thomas – 84 (63)

Round 2: Helensvale Gold v Coomera Hope Island Blue Under 12’s

Opened the batting, Jackson almost carried his bat throughout the whole innings, falling as the final wicket.

Kane Rice – 88* (77)

Round 2: Queens v Tamborine Mixed Under 12’s

At 3-77 the game was very much in the balance but young Kane Rice smashed his way to helping his team win by five wickets.

Riley Slack-Smith – 126* (76)

Round 2: Surfers Paradise Red v Burleigh Maroon Under 12’s

Helping Surfers to a massive 6/365, Riley batted the whole innings smashing 23 fours in his 126 not out.

Callum Wilson – 76 (86)

Round 2: Coomera Hope Island Blue v Helensvale Gold Under 12’s

Coming in at number three, Callum came in when the score was 1-0 and helped his side to pass the score four wickets down.

Archie Pridmore – 84* (75)

Round 2: Surfers Paradise v Coomera Hope Island Junior Div 4 Open

After a few quick wickets were lost early, Surfers needed someone to step up, young Archie did what was needed, helping his side to 6-204.

Sheldon Lowndes – 6-10 (8 overs)

Round 2: Burleigh Bullsharks v Coomera Hope Island Junior Div 1 Open

Defending 161, Burleigh needed early wickets, enter Sheldon Lowndes, who opened the bowling and ripped through the top and middle order.

Kaidan Hatchett – 5-23 (6 overs)

Round 2: Burleigh Bullsharks v Coomera Hope Island Junior Div 1 Open

After bowling Coomera out for 66 in the first innings, Burleigh almost won outright thanks to Kaidan’s second innings spell.

Toby Humphrey – 5-3 (3 overs)

Round 2: Burleigh Bullsharks v Alberton Junior Div 3 Open

The skipper took it upon himself to help his side to their first win of the season, ripping through Alberton to bowl them out for just 34.
