The next generation of NBL and WNBL stars are plying their trade in the under-14 South Queensland competition and we have shone a light on the stars making their mark for the Gold Coast Rollers.

North Gold Coast Seahawks boys
Brayden Brummer
A big centre who is a strong presence in the paint with his dynamic scoring and rebounding ability.
He is the team’s leading scorer with 162 points this year.
Josh Schmidt
The starting power forward is a tall, fast and athletic game-changer at either end of the floor.
His ability to rapidly get from one end to another makes his am exciting weapon in transition.
Cooper Crump
One of the most versatile players across the entire competition.
Crump can guard one through five and always matches up with the opposition's best offensive threat.
He has an impressive all-round game, with elite defence, strong rebounding and can create opportunities to score himself.
Stirling Hudson
One of the smaller players on the team in terms of stature but he more than makes up for it with his lion heart.
He is the team general with the biggest voice on the team and is an inspiring leader for his teammates.
Oliver Peterson
Labelled by coach BJ Lindemann as a “miniature Steph Curry” Peterson is one of several players on the Seahawks roster with a license to shoot.
Peterson has a great three-point shot and has excelled throughout the season so far.
Mason Howard
A young bottom-age gun with a bright future.
Howard has come off the bench this season and has shown he will be a pivotal member of the team nest year as a top age player.
He plays tough and harder defence than anyone.
Hudson Mackay
A versatile talent who can play in various positions on the floor.
He is an impact sub with an impressive jumpshot and has a bright future ahead.
Beck Keeton
Keeton is another dynamic shooter and while he is a relative newcomer to the sport, he is learning and developing well.
He is gaining confidence in his shooting ability each week and when he is on, is one of the best shooters in the team.
Diante Hopkins
A unique presence in the team who Lindemann described as loose and a “different cat”.
Hopkins is an exciting talent off the bench and can bring the all up the floor and create shots.
Nash Swanson
One of the smallest players in the competition but he was an impact whenever he steps onto the floor.
He is a pest with his elite on-ball defence and also has an impressive three-point shot in his arsenal.
The young gun has shown plenty of reasons why he could have a bright future ahead of him.
North Gold Coast Seahawks girls
North Gold Coast coach Vicki Sims said her young side had massively exceeded expectations this season improved drastically throughout the year.
Vanessa Turley
Turley has been the team’s go-to player and has scored 158 points so far this season.
She plays at the small forward position and is a tall athletic and aggressive players.
She has a great work ethic and does everything she can to help the team.
Lexy Blanch
A hard working point guard who facilitates the ball and has a strong work ethic.
She has chipped in with 60 points this year.
Lia Malherbe
A smart power forward who is somewhat undersized compared to her opponents.
However, what she lacks in size, she makes up for elsewhere with her aggressive work at either end, impressive game IQ and eagerness to do all the one percenters which often go unnoticed.
Leah Smith
A tall shooting guard who is a composed presence on the floor and has a nice jumpshot which she is not afraid to use.
Miah Reiher
One of the main attacking outlets for North Gold Coast, Reiher has scored 93 points this season.
She is a bottom-age power forward who has immense talent, can score the ball well and an infectious love for the game.
Olivia Lightfoot
An aggressive centre who is not afraid to make her mark in the paint.
She is a great rebounder with a sixth sense to know to know where to position herself for every board.
She can move up and down the floor well and plays hard defence.
Talia Biskaps
A crafty point guard with electric speed.
She can blitz her way past opposing guards with ease and has a great all-round defensive game.
Maioha Kopua
A younger shooting guard who is an exciting athletic.
She is quick on and off the ball and is a reliable shooter.
Amy Kriel
A bottom-age player who is an imposing presence at either end of the floor.
She is a tall and strong competitor who is a tough rebounder.
Madison McNeight
Another exciting young athlete who is tall and quick.
She has shown plenty of promise in her first season and is a brave power forward.
Her long arms and aggressive mindset have made her a damaging player.
Gold Coast Rollers boys
Isaiah Carter
Carter is the starting point guard and brings plenty of representative experience as he was a member of the team last year as a bottom age player.
“He’s really stepped up and leads and organises us,” coach Geoff McLeod said.
“He’s having a terrific season, he’s sort of like a court general and he’s really taken that on board and leading from the front.
“He does a little bit of scoring, guards the other team’s best player, he’s not necessarily our main guy but our captain and the leader.”
Jermaine O’Riley
A centre with a long wingspan who brings an elite athletic presence in the paint.
O’Riley has asserted himself as the team’s leading rebounder and scorer and was a member of the under-12 Queensland state team.
“He’s in the top echelon of players in the whole state,” McLeod said.
Noah Ghabiliha
Another Queensland representative, Ghabiliha is a dynamic wingman.
He is an elite lockdown defender, is lightning quick and has developed his three-point shot this season to become an lethal all-round threat.
Giovanni Rapana
An exciting power forward who has improved immensely and is now a member of the starting line-up.
“I am really pleased for him,” McLeod said.
“He was probably our number 11 guy a month ago and is now in our starting five so he’s going pretty well.”
Jalen Mene and Adam Morton
The pair are extremely similar players who both give their absolute all and alternate in the starting line-up on the wing.
“Jalen’s starting at the moment, he guards the other team’s leading scorer, he is a real effort kid,” McLeod said.
“He’s one of those players, whatever job he gets, guarding a big guy, guarding a little guy, if there’s a loose ball, he's going to dive on it.
“He does all the one-percenters so a coach’s dream.
“He and Adam are similar, (Adam’s) the left-handed version of Jalen.
“Adam’s left-handed, Jalen’s right-handed so just depending on who we play, either one of those two starts.”
Bradley Melim and Asha Kowalczuk
Melim is a combo guard who was one of the Rollers’ leading scorers, averaging 12 points per game before he suffered a foot injury.
Kowalczuk was the usual starting centre for the Rollers however he has also been out of action recently due to a knee injury.
Like Melim, Kowalczuk is a major contributor on the offensive end and averaged 20 points per game.
Hudson Flower, Dzel-Dion Nasio and Zion-Peli Nasio
The trio of bottom-age stars have been key members coming off the bench this season and shown impressive signs of development.
The Nasio twins are both six-foot tall and are a physical presence in the paint.
“Hudson is a real effort kid, he can score, one of those coach’s dreams does whatever you ask and the other two are big boys,” McLeod said
“They’re working on their defence and doing all the little things, rebounding and things like that.
“They’re going to be much better for the experience next year but because of the injuries they’ve had to step up and are doing a good job.
“The three of those will be a significant part of next year’s under-14 team, but they’ve really come on in the second half of the season.”
Gold Coast Rollers girls
Saiyuri Anderson
One of the shining lights of the Rollers program, Anderson has been Gold Coast’s go-to player this season.
She has sky-high potential and has returned as one of the leaders in the team after featuring in the Division 1 under-14 team last year as a bottom-age player.
Anderson has averaged 10.3 points per game with her best performance coming against local rivals North Gold Coast where she scored 17 points.
Willow Laidlaw
A centre who has made big improvements this season and continues to learn and develop playing in the high and low post.
Laidlaw averages just under five points per game with her best offensive performance a 10-point outing against the Sunshine Coast Phoenix.
Lulu Hobart
Hobart was a starting forward before an injury interrupted her season.
She has impressive game IQ, understands her role in the team’s offensive system and has an impressive jumpshot.
Ivy Stieffenhofer
Stieffenhofer came into the starting five for Hobart and has immediately made an impact in her new role.
She is a strong forward with good ball handling and can be a threat on offence.
Her ball protection in transition has been one of the biggest areas of improvement.
Laker Witt
The starting shooting guard, Witt can shoot the ball well and plays her role well in the team’s offensive and defensive systems.
She has chipped in with 54 points so far this season.
Alex van Dinter
Van Dinter is the floor general at the point guard.
She brings impressive on-ball defence and has improved her positioning on the floor to help the team’s gamestyle and plays they run.
Grace Thomas
Thomas continues to improve as the season goes on and understands the game better than before.
She has shown strong signs of improvement in her ball protection and team defence.
Sienna Chant
The impact player off the bench who plays the sixth player role.
She looks to get the ball in her hands early in the back court and plats relentless defence.
Honor Gessner
A smaller centre who has been a great back-up option for Laidlaw.
She has found her role within the team’s system and is a safe option to give the ball to.
Her efforts have been rewarded in recent weeks as she has found herself among the points.
Ayiesha
Joined the team late but has shown that she can make a mark on the floor.
She is an exciting guard still in development and good fundamental skills.
