The Gold Coast Rollers men’s QSL1 side has history in its sights as the team chases an incredible fourth-straight championship this year.

The Rollers have stormed out of the blocks to begin their four-peat quest, winning seven of their opening eight games.

We have shone a light on the players leading the Rollers charge and pressing their claims to secure regular opportunities at NBL1 level.

Rollers coach Steve Kerr was excited to see how his team performs in the back half of the season.

“We have got off to a great start to the season,” he said.

“We still have a lot of room for improvement at both ends of the floor which we look excited to unlock those improvements moving forward.”

Check out the Rollers squad below.

Tyler O’Neill

He brings pace, control and creates scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Along with being a key weapon on the offensive end, O’Neill balances his game out with tenacious defending.

Nevarda Higgins

An athletic swingman who can play several positions for the Rollers.

He is a player opposing players cannot afford to sleep on as he can hurt you in a blink of an eye.

Higgins can shoot the ball at a consistent rate and runs the floor effectively.

Brodie McGregor

What he lacks in experience, McGregor makes up for with his lethal offence.

At 17, he is the youngest player in the team but he has a wide range of attacking threats in his arsenal.

McGregor is a smart with his shot selection and has great size which makes him a threat across the court.

Cameron McGreevy

McGreevy brings a different option to the Rollers’ offence whether its through his inside presence or looking for his shot.

He is a fierce competitor in the paint and works overtime to dominate the rebounding game.

Matthew Gullotta

Gullotta is the rebound king and averages more than 14 boards per game.

He is considered the glue of the team and is a leader for the group, as he ensures the young side remains composed throughout contests.

Gullotta’s presence can be felt in every contest across the court and he has an unrivalled ability to sniff out a rebound whether it’s on the offensive or defensive end.

Matthew McKewin

A club hero, McKewin has captained the QSL to their championship three-peat and brings priceless experience and guidance for the team.

His constant ability to find the right person in the right spot is a credit to his vision on the court.

McKewin brings energy and restless defence on the opposition ball handler.

Jack Foley

This is Foley’s first year wearing the Gold Coast singlet and he has fitted into the program seamlessly.

He is an impact player at both ends of the court.

Foley boasts strong game awareness and has the ability to find the gaps to attack the basket and finish strong.

He brings plenty of energy and effort contributions on the defensive end which makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Josh Wolff

Another player opponents cannot afford to sleep on if they’re defending him.

Wolff can shoot the ball at a high percentage from the mid range or from three-point land.

He works hard to create open shots for himself which puts pressure on the opposing defenders.

Wolff also runs the lanes well for Gold Coast which creates scoreboard pressure.

Darcy Pares

Pares has entered the Rollers system this year and has already made an impact on the squad.

He is the ultimate teammate on and off the court.

Pares is a versatile player and provides coach Kerr with much needed confidence that he can play out of position when needed to help the team.

He can be a streaky scorer and gives the Rollers a different look for their defensive coverages.

Bailey Summerland

The ultimate coaches’ player who is determined to improve his game.

He gives it his all on the court and trains well week in, week out.

Summerland’s contribution on the defensive end is always high and he is always looking for the best outcome for the team whether it’s in offence or defence.

Sam Mattress

Mattress brings great size and runs the wing well.

He can play multiple positions, finishes strong under the basket and is an exciting impact player who provides a spark from the bench.

Tom Wagner

Wagner has unfortunately been hit with an injury and sidelined but when he is on the floor, he brings an exciting new element to his team’s offence.

He runs the floor well for a big and his presence in the rebound contest is a credit to his game and reflects on how hungry he is to get the ball for the team.
