A “challenging” start has the Ipswich Jets’ title defence on the ropes – but the premiers are confident a full complement of talent will bring a revival. Watch the double header LIVE on Sunday.

Defending Sapphire champions the Ipswich Jets remain confident their charge to defend their crown is not lost, despite a rollercoaster start to the 2025 HART Premier Netball League season.

The women in green have picked up three wins and four losses to begin the campaign, including a one goal defeat to Bond University in round seven and a six-goal loss to Kedron-Wavell in round six.

Awaiting the Jets in round eight is another tricky test as they get set to take on the Brisbane South Wildcats at 6pm on Sunday.

That clash – plus the Kedron-Wavell v Carina matchup at 4pm – will be part of a live streamed Sunday HPNL double header exclusively on KommunityTV.

Despite sitting in sixth place at the halfway point of the regular season, Jets head coach Megan Lynch knows what her full strength squad is capable of.

“It’s been quite challenging as we haven’t had the same team for seven consecutive weeks but we’re very excited because this weekend we’ll finally have all but one player back,” Lynch said.

“Our players have been with the Firebirds for the past seven weeks, so we haven’t had a consistent team making it tough to build train and build connections, especially in such a strong and evenly balanced competition.”

Lynch said despite going down narrowly to second placed Bond University last weekend, it was the Jets most complete performance of the season.

Brisbane South dusted the Jets by 19-goals back in round three as Lynch said her side was ready to turn things around.

“We’re expecting much more from ourselves this weekend as we didn’t feel we were good enough the last time we met the Wildcats,” she said.

“At the moment we’re definitely aiming to win again this year but we’re also focusing on our strategy for reaching the finals because everyone knows that once you hit finals, it’s a completely different ballgame.”
