GOLD COAST’S TOP FIVE MILESTONE WINS
Round 17, 2018, v Sydney Swans at the SCG.
Gold Coast’s first win over Sydney. They entered the game on the back of 11 straight losses, were missing the top five players from last year’s club champion award and had never got past a Swans team who were gunning for the top four. The chips were down and they trailed by 29 points at the main break but put together a stirring three-quarter effort to win 12.16 (88) to 8.16 (64).
Round 2, 2016, v Fremantle at Subiaco.
Gold Coast were riding high in early 2016 and after a predictable win over Essendon, went on to record their first victory over Fremantle.
The 19.12 (126) to 14.16 (100) was also the biggest score a visiting side had recorded at Domain Stadium over either Fremantle or West Coast since 2011.
Tom Lynch was a tower of strength on his way to five goals, while Jack Martin (four goals) pulled in 11 marks in a dominant effort.
Round 7, 2011, v Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.
A shootout that would form a piece of history for Gold Coast who fielded former Brisbane players Jared Brennan and Michael Rischitelli.

The 18.16 (124) to 17.14 (116) result wasn’t what the Lions predicted and it was Brennan’s effort of 30 disposals and 14 clearances in the midfield that provided the foundation for the win. Scores were level with six minutes to play before Nathan Krakouer kicked one of five for the game to put the Suns ahead.
Round 5, 2011, v Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
Gold Coast had a bye in Round 1 of their debut season and after losses to Carlton, Western Bulldogs and Melbourne they broke through to record the first AFL win in their history against Port Adelaide. The Suns trailed by 40 points in the third term but produced an amazing comeback to seal a 15.14 (104) to 15.11 (101) win after Port Adelaide’s Justin Westhoff missed a set shot after the siren.
Round 3, 2017, v Hawthorn at Metricon.
Gold Coast haven’t put many teams to the sword but they embarrassed Hawthorn at home on this occasion. It signalled the end of an era for the Hawks who opened their 2017 campaign with three straight losses. Former Sun Jaeger O’Meara was held to 14 possessions while Gold Coast’s four goal halftime lead went out to 66 by the final change. The club’s previous biggest winning margin was 83 points against GWS but the 21.13 (139) to 7.11 (53) set a new benchmark.
