Ethan Scully, Natalie Lewis face Maroochydore Court after alleged stolen car crash

The staggering list of alleged crimes committed by a Gold Coast man across SEQ before he and his Rockhampton girlfriend were arrested after a crash on the Sunshine Coast, can be revealed.

A young Southport man and his Gracemere partner have faced court after allegedly crashing a stolen car into a pole on the Sunshine Coast following an attempted gunpoint robbery in Ipswich.

Police charged Ethan William Scully, 23, and his girlfriend Natalie Taia Lewis, 21, after the pair were found near an allegedly stolen red Mazda 3 that crashed along the Bruce Hwy at Cooroy about 4pm on Tuesday.

Authorities allege the stolen vehicle was involved in an attempted robbery at a South Ripley home about 8.30am on Tuesday, where the Southport man threatened those at home with a handgun after a nine-year-old boy answered the door.

CCTV footage allegedly captured Scully dressed in black pants and a grey shirt where he allegedly entered the home and demanded the keys to her car.

It will be further alleged he fled afterwards in a stolen red Mazda 3.

Court documents state the Mazda 3 vehicle was allegedly stolen about midnight on Tuesday by a man who police say produced a “handgun” towards the vehicle’s owner who tried to offer them assistance.

Police were later called to the Bruce Hwy at Cooroy about 3.45pm on Tuesday where the Mazda 3 allegedly crashed into a pole, with reports a man fled into bushland.

Mr Scully, who police allege was the driver, was taken into custody nearby while Lewis was found leaving the stolen car.

When searching the car police allegedly found various suspicious items including ammunition.

He was charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent, attempted robbery (threaten violence armed), driving without a licence, and possessing explosives.

His charges were mentioned on Thursday in Maroochydore Magistrates Court, where he was remanded in custody without applying for bail.

Mr Scully faces more than 70 charges across multiple jurisdictions.

The court heard that at least eight of these charges would be addressed at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 7, followed by an attempted robbery charge at Ipswich Magistrates Court on November 8.

The remaining charges, including additional robbery charges, are scheduled for Maroochydore Magistrates Court on November 29.

His partner, Ms, Lewis, who police allege was the passenger, applied for bail in faced court on four counts of breaching bail and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Duty lawyer Jaimee Burns pushed for Lewis’ conditional release while the 21-year-old watched on by video link from the Maroochydore watch-house.

Police allege the Gracemere woman breached her bail four times, which was given to her at the Maryborough watch-house on August 4. Her conditions were to live at Boonooroo on the Fraser Coast and then Gracemere near Rockhampton, not contact Mr Scully, report to police three times a week and be on a 7pm to 6am curfew.

Detectives strongly believe a firearm will also be allegedly found during a full search of the crash site at Cooroy.

Ms Burns said it was only alleged by police that Ms Lewis was the passenger and was not charged with attempted robbery like her partner.

The duty lawyer said it was not clear from the bail objection affidavit when Ms Lewis allegedly entered the vehicle.

She said the 21-year-old could be bailed to live back in Boonooroo, however acting magistrate Raelene Ellis said this was the same address from her other alleged bail breaches.

Ms Burns said Ms Lewis was kicked out of her mum’s home at this address due to her drug use and lived on the Gold Coast where she became “tied up” with her partner.

The duty lawyer said the woman, who now lived at Gracemere spent a night in the watch-house and understood the seriousness of her situation and could be bailed to complete a mental health plan.

However, Ms Ellis said she was not satisfied there were any bail conditions by which Ms Lewis could abide and refused her bail.

Her matters were adjourned to November 22.
